Orc Skull WIP by Nightlyre
Orc Skull WIP
I'm having way too much fun with this mask. There's just so much you can do with a skull!

This one's got some resin-cast horns and Apoxie Sculpt for the tooth modifications. The original mask sculpt wasn't specifically made for moving-jaw masks, but I'm going to attempt to mod this one to move as the wearer speaks. Might add a nice scar across the bone, it depends whether I want to bring the Dremel into this or not. :) I'll probably just paint him natural bone in color, but I haven't decided yet.

Full skull mask blanks and half skull mask blanks are available from my Etsy costume shop if you want to play too. There's also a couple of finished, OOAK, ready-to-wear masks available if you want something unique for Halloween, but aren't the crafty sort!

New Bookmarks by Nightlyre
New Bookmarks
It's hard for me to believe, but it'd been a couple years since I did any new bookmarks. It occurred to me, I have a book dragon print - why not see if he'd work as a bookmark too? Kinda makes sense, y'know? Then, I looked through my other prints to see if any of them would work out. Not all of them did, but this set turned out quite nice, I think. :)

Skull Half Mask - Red and Gold Tribal Flame by Nightlyre
Skull Half Mask - Red and Gold Tribal Flame
Here's my first finished skull half-mask, available in my Etsy costume shop! I went with a highly stylized, masquerade-style look for this one, all deep red with a tribal, flame-like design done in gold on the left forehead and the right cheekbone. I emphasized some of the deeper areas and details (nose, teeth, and the bone fracture near the top) with dark acrylic paint to make them stand out. I wasn't happy with the pristine, shiny appearance, so I decided to weather it and finish it with a satin spray instead, so it looks well worn and like it has been through hell... perhaps literally!

It's padded with foam and felt on the inside, and has a black elastic band securely glued on either side. To wear it, one would simply tie the elastic pieces together wherever it felt comfortable for them.

Painted Grave Skull Mask by Nightlyre
Painted Grave Skull Mask
Update: Sold! :)

Here's the first finished mask I've added to the cosplay store! "Grave Skull" is meant to look like an old skelly that just got him... or her!... self dug up. It's got fine black mesh in the eyes, so it's easy to see out but almost impossible to see in. It's attached to a homemade black balaclava which hides the wearer's head and neck.

I don't care if it's still September, I am in a full-on Halloween mood! Skulls, skulls everywhere! MUAHAHAHA! :mwahaha:

Sad Reaper - Mask and Prop Commission by Nightlyre
Sad Reaper - Mask and Prop Commission
The original painting is NOT MINE - it belongs to Annie Dunn of Chaos In Color. The original painting, Teddy Bear and the Reaper, is available from her website. Her artwork features whimsical fantasy and macabre characters, with a focus on cats and skeletons - it's well worth taking a look!

She decided to bring one of her paintings to life as a character that could walk around and interact with people at conventions, and approached me to create a mask and scythe prop based on the Teddy Bear and the Reaper painting. The finished reaper is simply charming, don't you think? :)

The mask is a cast resin piece, hand painted. The scythe is made from pipe, EVA foam, and rope. They also borrowed a pair of skelly hands and feet I had in my costuming stash. for extra super creepiness!

I'm a rather eclectic Arizona-based artist, mostly focusing on fantasy and science fiction... especially dragons, though all amazing creatures are fair game. I do digital drawing and painting, polymer clay sculpture, molding and casting, costume and prop-making, and lots more! I'm also a fan of Dragon Age and Mass Effect, and generally a complete geek, so expect some fan art and comics peppered into the mix!
