Character Garrus Vakarian
Description
Well, I promised my ME buddies that there was more Garrus artwork on the way, but it was a rather big project... so here's the first couple of photos of what I've been working on for the past several months.
I've only seen a handful of people cosplay him, and thought I'd give it a shot. It's a heck of a jump from not having done much costuming for several years, to diving headlong into full suit of armor, LED lighting (not yet installed), a full mask with moving jaw, and a ton of other things I've never done before. It has been exciting, a tremendous challenge, incredibly frustrating at times... but ultimately has turned out better than I dared to hope.
What you see here is mostly complete. There's an extra piece that goes on the outside of either thigh, which is completed, but can't be attached until the lighting is installed. Mr. Vakarian is lit up like a freakin' Christmas tree, so the lighting itself is no small task - but I loved learning to solder and calculate resistances and all of that fun stuff. The armor is all foam, treated and painted to look like metal.
Want to see how I made the costume? I've got a full set of blog posts on my website!
