After rather recently flying through all three games in the Mass Effect series, the urge to do fanart became a bit too strong. And, well, after the Extended Cut, I figured I owed Bioware something more than just a "thank you."
So I painted Garrus. Why Garrus? ...c'mon, if you have to ask that, you haven't met him.
I seriously need to paint more often. This was more fun than I can even describe, but I do need the practice! Fanart makes for fun practice, though. Especially when it involves a few dozen sketches trying to get turian physiology right...
The original sketch was done on paper, but everything else was in Photoshop CS2. I wasn't keeping track, but I'd estimate this took about 15 hours, including my inevitable "staring and tweaking" phase. That's actually pretty quick for me, given how long the Anders painting took!
Since I did so for Anders, I decided to make this into a desktop background in case anyone wants it. You can find it on our website - just scroll down to the section labeled "Non-Eldlor Wallpapers".
And of course, Garrus Vakarian and Mass Effect belong to BioWare. I would also like to thank =Troodon80 for the amazing high-resolution reference images he's made available; they were invaluable in detailing Garrus' armor!

Edit: After a few days, I wasn't quite happy with how his face turned out, so I made some adjustments. If anyone is interested in seeing a before-and-after, let me know, otherwise I'm much happier now.
I guess my desktop gets changed.
