Sketch Commission - Dragon Tattoo Design by Nightlyre Sketch Commission - Dragon Tattoo Design by Nightlyre
This dragon design was commissioned as the basis for a tattoo, a full backpiece!

Because this design was commissioned and paid for by a client, I will not grant anyone besides her permission to use the image as a tattoo design. Please respect that. :)

I was going to reply, but then I went to check out your deviantArt page, clicked on a link, and ended up reading the Oatmeal for two hours. Ahem - good luck with your design! :) I've always found it to be far more rewarding to design your own tattoos, anyway - they are uniquely yours, and you can get exactly what you want.

Amazing drawing. That dragon looks like he's been through some battles - I love the tears in his wings. He'll make an awesome tattoo. Wish I had the guts to get one!

Hey, long time no see! The commissioner wanted him to look as though he'd been through some rough times. As for tattoos themselves - they're not too bad. I just have one on my shoulder - really, as long as you avoid areas of skin directly over bone, they're hardly painful at all. It felt kind of like someone running their fingernail across my skin. Not for everyone, I know. :)

Awesome! A friend of mine might want that on her back xD

Like I mentioned above, because it was a paid commission, I would request that no one else uses it as a tattoo design. You're welcome to use it as a reference as you learn to draw dragons, though - References are the best way to learn!

Ok, thanks!

BTW, where is the place you could get this design, though?

It was actually done for a specific person, in Australia. If you're interested though, or know someone who is, I can do custom tattoo designs on commission, and can draw something similar. Not exactly like this one, of course, but I really think it's better to have a completely unique design, anyway!

What a neat dragon tattoo design simple lineart here bit the idea of a dragon breathing fire is still a classical favorite to me. O like the gentle soft blue tone in this image as well as it adds just enough structure to make the image stand out quite nicely, nice work. :)
