The Seas of Imagination - 2016 KNTR Calendar by Nightlyre The Seas of Imagination - 2016 KNTR Calendar by Nightlyre
Here's my contribution for the 2016 Kids Need to Read charity calendar, a digital illustration I've named "The Seas of Imagination". You can read more about the image and the KNTR organization over on my website!

Kids Need to Read also has beautiful 28" x 21" poster-sized prints of this piece available through their store - 100% of proceeds benefit the KNTR charity.

My you really know how to put it all in one image and crossing over so many story-lines, Molby Dick, Harry Potter Greek myth with the Minotaur, mermaids, pirate ships even airships of a steampunk kind, and of course your own touch by adding yourself as a sea-dragon. Of this, all I can think of is Imaginarium a dream emporium, a places beyond reality; all with the turn of a page, and you are in other worlds. Quite wonderful, quite subtle in some ways but all there on display of what can be when you read. :)

I always enjoy your interpretations - sometimes you see what I see in a piece, and sometimes not, but that's half the fun of artwork and imagination!

Imagination and interpretation, right or wrong to the artist vision, art for the viewer is all subjective and unbiased; unless made to have one meaning and one meaning only to be given for art. You are quite welcome.

You have a wonderful imagination, Nightlyre!  I love all the subtleties that end up in your paintings.  In this one I am particularly fond of that little airship that sneaked into the background. :-)
